I use a ruler, a caliper, and digital postal scale (which is a fraction or so of an ounce off from what the post office tells me).Keep in mind equipment differences when reviewing measurements and weights of these items.

Early 1900ís Electric Minerís Safety Lamp Ė Very cool piece of history on the side of the advancements with electricity and on mining equipment.

1870ís style Hernstein Medical Saddlebags Each bag has a pull out side drawer one for medicinal tinctures and the other for medicinal powders.Each bottle compartment drawer is covered in a purple crushed velvet-like material.The top of each bag has a tarred flap over the upper linen lined compartment.The tincture drawer's buckle strap worn off (leather and buckle now reside inside the drawer.The thin belly strap that attaches around the horse (?) is also worn through at one side.Overall, very sound and extremely good condition.The name "C.W. Baldwin" is also penciled on the back side of one of the bags. The leather over-the-saddle strap has large fluid staining as shown just to the left and ran over the manufacturer stamp of "A.L. Hernstein Mfg N.Y."††† Albert L Hernstein, son of Hermann Hernstien, was in business with his father in 1862.Hernstein was a major supplier of surgical instruments during the Civil War.Albert carried on with the family surgical instrument business well into the late 1800's.
